The Model 1 is the board that brought Sega into real-time 3D, in 1992. Its power came from a Fujitsu geometry processor out of the flight-simulator world: while the main CPU runs the game, that chip transforms the polygons.
Its polygons are flat, untextured — the machine's visual signature. What struck players at the time was not surface detail but the fluidity and the sense of volume, never seen before in an arcade.
Its library is short and historic. Virtua Racing (1992) put 3D into racing games. Virtua Fighter (1993) invented the 3D fighting game and founded a series Sega still leans on. Star Wars Arcade turned the licence into a space shooter, and Wing War offered dragon-back aerial combat. Sega NetMerc, which stayed obscure, closes the list.
The Model 1 was replaced in 1994 by the Model 2, which added textures.
New in Recalbox 11.0: the Model 1 arrives, with an in-house core.

blueflash is the only core for this system, and therefore the default one. It offers good compatibility, runs at full speed and supports CRT output. Netplay, softpatching, RetroAchievements and lightguns are not supported on this system.
The Model 1 needs an RPi4/400 at least. It is not available on RPi3, RPi Zero 2, OGA/OGS/RG351 or RG353.
