Your Recalbox is up and running and you have been through basic usage? This section gathers the features that let you go further: customizing Recalbox game by game, understanding emulation, automating actions and working on the system itself. Nothing here is required to play — everything here is for the curious and the tinkerers.
- Configuration override — change the configuration of Recalbox, RetroArch or the cores for a single game or a whole folder with simple text files placed next to your roms. With its reference page: RetroArch overrides.
- RetroArch — the engine powering most of Recalbox's emulators: what it does, how to open its menu, and what you should not touch in it.
- Arcade in Recalbox — MAME, FinalBurn Neo, romsets, CHDs… understand arcade emulation once and for all.
- Pad To Keyboard — play keyboard-oriented computer games with your controller (and even emulate the mouse).
- Systems display — choose the order of the systems in the interface, hide some, or create a "custom" system with its own roms.
- User scripts — run your own scripts straight from a menu of the interface.
- Scripts on frontend events — trigger scripts (or MQTT messages) when the interface starts, launches a game, scrapes…
¶ System and hardware
- Manual and offline update — update a Recalbox without an Internet connection, or install a specific image provided by the team.
- Fan controller — drive the fan of compatible Raspberry Pi hats and cases (Argon One, PoE+, Fan SHIM…).
