Dolphin can replace a game's original textures with high-definition versions redrawn by enthusiasts. Some packs even replace the videos with HD versions. Packs exist for Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Luigi's Mansion, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, among others — and the list keeps growing.
The reference catalogue is the Dolphin custom texture projects forum. Accepted formats are DDS and BC7.
Texture packs work with the standalone Dolphin emulators (
DOLPHINandDOLPHIN-GUI). Check the core in use throughEDIT GAME→RUN WITH.
Textures go into a folder named after the game ID, inside:
/recalbox/share/saves/dolphin-emu/Load/Textures/
The ID can be given in two forms:
GM4P01 for Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (Europe);GM4.┣ 📁 saves
┃ ┣ 📁 dolphin-emu
┃ ┃ ┣ 📁 Load
┃ ┃ ┃ ┣ 📁 Textures
┃ ┃ ┃ ┃ ┣ 📁 GM4P01
┃ ┃ ┃ ┃ ┃ ┣ 🗒 tex1_64x64_….dds
If the textures are not in a correctly named folder, the pack is silently ignored: no error message, just the original textures.
There is nothing to enable: Recalbox turns high-resolution textures and their cache on every time Dolphin starts. Drop the pack in, start the game.

An HD texture pack often weighs several gigabytes. Make sure your share partition has room, and bear in mind that a very heavy pack can noticeably lengthen loading times on a Raspberry Pi 5.
