Recalbox is a free open-source project, and we would be happy to count you among our contributors.
If you have skills and would like to use them to improve the project, come and tell us about it on our Discord.
We are always looking for profiles that can help us:
The first form of participation is to report the bugs you find in Recalbox, in detail.
The GitLab Issues are bug or enhancement tickets that allow users, developers and testers to discuss the topic in one place.
When you report a bug, be as precise as possible: describe the context (machine, Recalbox version), attach screenshots, and explain how you worked around the problem if you did.
Go to https://gitlab.com/recalbox/recalbox/-/issues !
The Recalbox sources are available at https://gitlab.com/recalbox/recalbox
Developing on Recalbox requires reading a minimum of documentation about the foundations of the system: Buildroot. Once you understand how it works, you can start by building your own Recalbox image as described in the project's README.md. Basic knowledge of bash and Linux commands will be necessary.
Depending on your skills, you can start on different topics:
Contributions go through merge requests on GitLab: each fix or feature lives in its own branch, must pass the project linters (./run_linters) and follow Conventional Commits — the details are in the project's CONTRIBUTE.md.
We are not necessarily looking for highly technical people, but rather for someone motivated, autonomous and able to work as a team on the open-source model
Recalbox is developed on its contributors' free time. You can financially support the project on our Patreon — patrons get early access to the versions in preparation.
